Many don’t realize how a mould would affect the final products. Superficially, all moulds look the same.

The truth is mould is one of the biggest secrets during carbon product manufacturing.



Everyone knows that the mould is made of steel, but there are so many different steel options there. However, incorrect material would cause many issues and potential risks like product deformation, low manufacturing efficiency.

After many years of experience, we found the perfect option. For example, one set of rim mould could be used for producing at least 2000 pieces rims without any defects. This means not only perfect raw rims but also lower costs and higher uninterrupted production efficiency. For sure, the proper mould maintenance during production is still necessary.


How to polish the mould surface finish, and polish to what level, both are important issues.

Because this affects the raw finished rim quality, also the work of rim painting. Eyes can’t tell the difference from different mould surfaces at all. But the product will tell everything. Here is a picture of our rims, just taken out from mould.


The angles of the mould surface is another difficult issue.

Incorrect angles would not affect the surface but affect the rim edges, then the product quality.

The potential issues would be wrong flatness and roundness tolerance. If manufacturers try to repair by sanding and painting, that might affect the rim strength too.


The grooves inside the mould are designed to control the epoxy loss during curing. Too low loss, the products would be over-weight;

Too high loss, the products would seriously destroy its strength.

There are still other factors that would affect the loss.

But well-designed grooves inside the mould would be a basic guarantee.
