CSD-VISION

Yishun's Corporate Sustainable Development (CSD) works in the development of environmentally freiendly products,  and taking responsibbility for the future generations

PURPOSE

Yishun, for every cyclist the right product with the highest quality and maximum durability

MISSION

The four pillars of Yishun's responsibility:
products, company, supply chain, social action

Benefits of Recycled Carbon Fibre

Affordable

Recycled carbon fibre products allow the weight saving benefits of carbon fibre to be obtained at a lower cost than would otherwise be the case in many applications.

Environmental

Recycled carbon fibre products have a significantly lower environmental footprint compared to virgin carbon fibre and lightweight metals such as aluminium, magnesium and titanium. This means lower energy use, reduced CO2 emissions and lower water use.

Sustainable

Lightweight materials are an important part of the journey to a lower carbon economy, which will increase demand for carbon fibre. Reusing the waste generated in manufacturing and the carbon fibre contained in end-of-service components is important to ensuring that the industry becomes more sustainable.

Responsibility for The Next Generations

We are not only setting goals, but we are also officially establishing our social and environmental responsibility throughout the company. It not only provides information for our employees and the industry as a whole, but also serves as an inspiration to further develop their responsibility – for the people and for our planet.

Based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI Standards). These internationally recognized guidelines enable standardization and comparability of all sustainability topics between different companies, even outside the bicycle industry.

Recycling carbon fiber and other exotic materials into exciting and unique products not only helps reduce waste but also contributes to sustainable practices in various industries. By reimagining these high-performance materials, we can create innovative designs that blend functionality with aesthetics, paving the way for a circular economy.

This approach not only minimizes environmental impact but also opens up opportunities for creativity and advancement in product development, showcasing the potential of repurposing materials that were once considered difficult to recycle.

Why Recycle

Today, driven by growth in commercial aerospace, wind energy and industrial applications such as pressure vessels, demand is over 100,000 tonnes per year. The amount of carbon fibre in end-of-life components is expected to exceed 40,000 tonnes per year within a decade. This will consume about 160,000 m3 of landfill per year—about the same as needed for 400,000 people.

We are committed to reducing these impacts by recovering the fibres from manufacturing waste and end-of-service carbon fibre intensive structures and returning it to the market for applications where it can provide a technically acceptable alternative to virgin carbon fibre.

Products

We are focused on the development of next generation carbon fibre recovery systems and the expansion of our carbon fibre nonwoven business.

Our RCF range includes:

  • RCF- M, a 100% recycled carbon fibre fabric
  • RCF-TM, a thermoplastic and recycled carbon fibre hybrid blend.

Accelerating the transition to a circular economy

As one of the first companies in the bicycle industry, we have set ambitious CSD goals in our four pillars of responsibility.
